What you can do

  • Certificate search

ORC International, ORC Club and the other ORC certificates issued by the rating offices, with the IMS data of earlier years. Certificate copies open free of charge.

    Free

    Search certificates
  • My Boats

Keep your boats' data online. Add a boat from its certificate, then change its sails, rig, crew weight or anything else its data file holds, in the online editor or offline in the IMS Editor.

    Free

    Open My Boats
  • Test certificates

See what a change would do before you make it. The current ORC VPP rates your boat's data and sends you a test certificate with the new ratings.

    Start from My Boats
  • Speed guides

Polar diagrams and tables of boat speed, angles and heel for every wind speed and sail, with Expedition and SYLK files for your instruments and routing software. Made from a valid certificate or from your own test certificate.

See a sample (opens in a new tab) How to read it (PDF, opens in a new tab)
  • Target speeds

Upwind and downwind target boat speeds and angles on one page, to print and keep on board. Made from a valid certificate or from your own test certificate.

See a sample (PDF, opens in a new tab)
  • Scratch sheets

For race organisers: pick certificates and print a scratch sheet of time allowances, with the scoring options of each rating office.

How a test certificate works

  1. Register

An account is free. All you need is an e-mail address, or your Google account.

  2. Add your boat

Find its certificate and add it to My Boats. Its data file comes with it.

  3. Change what you want to try

A new headsail, a lighter crew, a longer pole: edit the data online, or offline in the IMS Editor.

  4. Run the VPP

Request a test certificate. The result is e-mailed to you, and then its speed guide and target speeds can be ordered too.

Credits: you pay for what is delivered

Test certificates and products are paid for in credits, bought online by card in packs; larger packs cost less per credit.

When you request a test certificate or order a product, its price is held from your credits and charged only once it has been delivered. A run that fails costs nothing.

Edit a boat's data file on your own computer, check it and print it, then upload it to My Boats.

  • ORC API

For developers: ORC rating data for your own applications, with an API key.

Good to know

What only a rating office can do

Sailor Services rates the data you give it. It can't change a hull's offset file or measure its stability, and a test certificate is for trying changes: the certificate you race with comes from your rating office.

Always the current VPP

Test certificates are made with the latest release of the ORC VPP, whose version is printed on each. Early in the year one release may follow another, and ratings can change with it.
